GD, TAEYANG, and BOBBY Become the Top 3 Male K-pop Solo Artists that Topped iTunes Charts Outside of Korea the Most

[매일경제스타투데이=성정은 기자] G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, and BOBBY topped the iTunes albums chart the most among K-pop solo artists.

According to Whale Report, which analyzes music data around the world, G-DRAGON’s “KWON JI YONG”, TAEYANG’s “WHITE NIGHT”, and BOBBY’s “LOVE AND FALL” topped the charts in 45, 26, and 22 countries, respectively. G-DRAGON’s album became No.1 in the biggest number of countries as a single album.

TAEYANG and BOBBY ranked second and third, making the top three all YG artists. The albums in questions are all released this year. This shows that YG’s strong media infrastructure, all-out support, and strong music that breaks down cultural barriers are working.

Currently, G-DRAGON is on his “ACT III, M.O.T.T.E” solo world tour. He will be touring around 29 cities around the world during his tour: four in Asia, eight in North America, four in Oceania, five in Europe, and three in Japan.

His fellow BIGBANG member TAEYANG has also recently finished his North American solo tour. He is to perform at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Manila on September 22.

BOBBY, the youngest one of the three, has recently released his first solo album “LOVE AND FALL”. The album has gained popularity around the world upon release. BOBBY wrote the lyrics and music of the title tracks, “I Love You” and “RUNAWAY”, and they are doing well on the charts even through four days have passed since their release.
